Conclusion

In conclusion, the people in both Singapore and Britain have benefited from healthcare in their country. The healthcare in Singapore is kept relatively affordable by the government who introduces schemes such as Medisave, Medishield, and Medifund. It also provides subsidies for the people. This allows the people in the country to access to healthcare without having to worry about the costly medical expenses. However, there is still a small portion of the people who, despite measures introduced, are still unable to afford to pay for healthcare in Singapore due to various reasons. Hence, this shows that although the measures implemented reduce the cost of healthcare for the majority of Singaporeans, there is still a small percentage of Singaporeans (unemployed, low-wage workers) who still find healthcare too expensive.
In Britain, the NHS (National Health Service) provides costless healthcare which allows the poor to visit doctors and receive equal treatment. This ensures that the poor’s healthcare needs are not neglected. NHS also allows people to receive the treatment that best suits them, despite its cost. However, there are some cases where patients were badly treated and complained that healthcare service provided by NHS is poor due to long waiting time and inadequate facilities provided.
To sum it up, healthcare in Singapore and Britain have both advantages and disadvantages that have different effects on the lives of their citizens. Although not all Singaporeans benefit from the healthcare as compared to Britain, which provides free healthcare services for all, it promotes self-reliance, which in the long run enables citizens to take charge of their own healthcare, preventing over-reliance on the government.
